National Bureau of Statistics: Exports are still facing greater risks and challenges, and we should not be too optimistic about the prospects.

CCTV News:On May 15th, the State Council held a press conference on the operation of the national economy in April 2020.

At the press conference, Liu Aihua, director of the National Statistics Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that the prospect of export is indeed facing greater instability and uncertainty.

Liu Aihua said that many international institutions or organizations have recently announced their forecasts for economic growth this year, including the IMF’s forecast that the world economy will decline by 3% for the whole year, as well as the WTO and the United Nations, all of which have predicted global economic and trade activities, and the decline rate is still relatively large. In this context of increasing risk of global economic recession, China’s exports are indeed facing greater risk challenges. Although the export of goods increased by 8.2% in April, we should not be too optimistic about the prospects. Since the beginning of this year, with the support of a series of export stabilization policies, foreign trade enterprises have strengthened their market regulation ability, exerted their own competitiveness and carried out diversified layout, and achieved hard-won results. However, in the context of global economic contraction, it is difficult for China’s exports to be immune. Therefore, we still have to fully estimate the risks and challenges.
