China CDC: The number of asymptomatic infected people reported is mostly the result of moving forward the gateway.

Cctv newsYesterday (January 31st) afternoon, the State Council joint defense and control mechanism held a press conference. Xu Wenbo, director of the Center for Viral Disease Prevention and Control of China CDC, said that recently, China reported a large number of asymptomatic infected people, mainly because the gateway moved forward and the ability to find cases was enhanced. By taking proactive measures, many cases were still detected within the incubation period.

Xu Wenbo, Director of the Institute of Viral Disease Prevention and Control, China CDC:In epidemic control, the time interval of nucleic acid detection has been shortened, and the number of nucleic acid detection has increased, which has also led to more infected people being screened out at an earlier stage or with lower detoxification, so many of these infected people are in an asymptomatic state.

Asymptomatic infected people are infectious to some extent. Because they haven’t had symptoms yet, asymptomatic infected people don’t know that they will infect others, and people who come into contact with them will also be at risk. If they are found late, they will easily cause a cluster epidemic or cause community spread, which is what everyone calls covert transmission. Therefore, everyone must take precautions to reduce the risk of infection.
