2019 college entrance examination: 10 blind candidates use Braille papers.
CCTV News:Today (June 7), the national unified college entrance examination began in 2019. The reporter learned from the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education that this year, a total of 10 blind candidates from six provinces and autonomous regions including Shanxi, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Guangdong and Tibet used Braille papers to take the exam. This is also the sixth consecutive year that China has provided blind candidates with Braille papers for the college entrance examination since the use of Braille papers in the college entrance examination in 2014.
Do you know? Braille test paper is like this.
In addition to the members of the college entrance examination proposition group, there are also relevant braille education experts. The printing cost of test paper is complex. Braille takes "square" as the unit, and each side has six points. Different meanings can be expressed through the arrangement and combination of these points. Generally, it takes two squares to express the syllables of a Chinese character.
The content and difficulty of the Braille test paper are similar to those of ordinary candidates. When the test paper has graphics, it needs to be changed and reformed, because the blind can’t touch the graphics.
It takes a lot longer for blind candidates to answer questions by touching the Braille test paper with their hands than for healthy candidates. When enrolling students, the scores are the same as those of ordinary candidates, and they do not enjoy extra points and other care.
Many blind candidates got good grades in the exam.
In 2015, Zheng Rongquan, the first blind candidate in Zhejiang to take the general college entrance examination, scored 570 points, of which mathematics was close to perfect score, with 146 points, which was 98 points higher than the second score line in Zhejiang Province.
In the same year, Oriole, the first blind candidate in Ningxia, scored 530 points, which was 85 points higher than the first line of science and engineering in Ningxia.
In 2017, Wang Chong, a blind candidate in Anhui Province, scored 575 points in the college entrance examination that year, which was 88 points higher than a line in this province.
In 2018, Wang Yun, a senior three graduate of Shanghai School for the Blind, scored 623 points in the college entrance examination.
Pay more attention to blind candidates
In 2014, under the great attention of the Ministry of Education and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, China’s first Braille examination paper for college entrance examination was born. Li Jinsheng, a 46-year-old blind candidate from Henan Province, became the first candidate in China to take the college entrance examination in Braille.
One year later, in 2015, the blind people in China participated in the general college entrance examination for the first time. In the past, blind candidates who could only take the "single exam and single move" and could only choose massage, music and other majors had more choices.
In April 2017, the Ministry of Education and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation jointly issued the Regulations on the Administration of Disabled Persons’ Participation in the National Unified Examination for Enrollment in Colleges and Universities, which includes: entering the examination center in advance, extending the examination time, allowing visually disabled candidates to bring with them auxiliary devices or equipment needed for answering questions, such as braille handwriting board, braille drawing tool, rubber pad, braille typewriter without storage function, electronic visual aid without storage function, blind stick, desk lamp, optical magnifying glass, etc. (CCTV reporter Gao Weiqiang)
